All about Lily

I have been meaning to post Lily's birthday tribute for weeks. But am just now getting around to it. I cannot believe that a whole year has passed. My tiny baby isn't so tiny anymore. I think I say that a lot...I think everyone does. But literally I am boggled about that as I age, and my family grows, how quickly it all seems to fly by. I was reading a friend's blog the other day. She recently had her first baby. She was stating how the first two weeks just slipped away. She was asking for Father Time to slow down a bit...we have all been there. Wow!! And here I am with a 5,3 and 1 year old. I think it gets exponential with every year. Then POOF!! They are big and the years have slipped away. Another friend says, "The days are long but the years are short." Perfectly put.

So here I sit reminiscing on Lily's first year. It sounds trite, but I can't imagine our family without her. When I found out I was expecting her I couldn't wrap my head around it. We thought we were done out of necessity. I wasn't supposed to be able to get pregnant. So literally I think I spent the first few months in shock...and puking constantly. Now she has brought more love and life to our family and a presence we didn't realize was missing until she was here. She is definitely our precious princess sent from our Heavenly Father and I am grateful every day for her.

9 months

One year.

Lily is vibrant. Her laugh and smile are completely infectious. Admittedly the constantly happy baby we knew in those first months has transitioned into a spunky, mostly happy, and somewhat dramatic little girl. She has a great whit you can tell already. She loves to tease us all!! She loves to laugh and squeal. Loves to give kisses and hugs. She can't help but dance to music and loves it-so do we!

In her last month she:

-cut four more teeth making a grand total of 8 (I think it was 6 on her birthday and then cut two more within the week after)

-learned two new words, "pretty" or "tt- ty" and "yay!". This brings her vocabulary list to: Mama, Dada, more, ball, baby, pretty, uh-oh, yay, (hi and wow?-maybe not sure-said them just a few times.)

-waves hello and goodbye

-learned to turn around on the stairs and climb off the couch, on stools etc.---is EVERYWHERE!

-taken a few solitary steps here in there but always falls. You can tell she REALLY wants to walk, but not there yet.

-loves to hide around corners and play peek-a-boo.

-can open cabinets and drawers---always a fun milestone :)

-loves to play with moms jewelry and make-up---hence learning "pretty".

-loves to play with every one's shoes.

-loves to read books and listen to music

-loves to unravel the toilet paper :)

Lily, we are so beyond glad you are part of our family. Our sweet Lily girl, silly Lily, hungry hippo,Lily girl, princess and precious angel. WE LOVE YOU!!

Football Season is Back!

Week 1 against Washington. Notice Lily's shirt? It is her onesie from last year. I just cut off the onesie part and hemmed the bottom...but with her rotund belly it looks like a belly shirt. :)

This is Jake's favorite time of year. FOOTBALL SEASON! I have to say I was proud of him this weekend that even though BYU lost, he wasn't depressed all weekend. He is an avid fan to put it mildly. But we all enjoy game time, even the kids. Our boys can sing the fight song and for a 5 and 3 year old they even like watching football with dad. Ra, ra, ra, ra, ra....GO COUGARS!!

Twice the Fun!!

Last Friday night we celebrated Ty and Lily's Birthday. So fun!Our first attempt at the dual birthday phenomenon. Super fun! Happy Birthday to my two sweet babies!! I can't believe they are so big! Where did our year go?

We took them to McDonalds on the 2nd--their actual birthday. But with that night being a school night and our last night of baseball we opted to celebrate on Friday night.

"Batman, ah Bee and Bode!" Translation--Batman, the Brave and the Bold! Ty's favorite show. Ty helping make the cake....Now helping destroy the cake Friday morning...below is how he looked when he came up to find me. I was distracted and on the phone...honestly having a rough morning and I forgot the cakes were sitting out...Ty however did not!

I LOVE this picture! My boys really are best friends. In fact I asked Ty if he wanted a party with friends for his birthday. He said "no, just Lukey". So sweet.

His grin got bigger and bigger with each song he heard. Priceless!

We had a really great time. I had a fare amount of anxiety leading up to this day. I mulled over how to make it special for them both. Plus it was a big milestone for Lily, and I always feel like that first birthdays are extra special. I know it seems silly, but it has bothered me for a whole year. Everyone I know who knows someone who shares a birthday with their sibling says that they love it, but still I worried. Now after a year of worrying, it was GREAT! So special, so funny, so unique. I hope they will always love it. I hope that they will always share a bond because of it. September 2nd is a pretty awesome day for me. I get to celebrate two of my miracles. I couldn't ask for more!!

Baseball

The boys took a baseball class in August. Ty was so excited to get to be in it this time. Luke has taken all the sports classes that Coach Logan teaches and has really enjoyed it. Currently we are in swimming right now to finish up our fall/summer sports.
Luke showed more aptitude for baseball than some of the others. He got so he could hit the ball without a tee. Here are some shots we got.
