Roughing It

We were supposed to go camping with the Speredons the last week in August. But of course as luck would have it, after waiting all summer for a weekend that worked it was supposed to rain all weekend. So the group opted to not camp in the rain and instead to have a "campout" in our playroom. We still roasted marshmellows-just in a firepit instead. And we still went fishing, which was going to be the Saturday afternoon activity. I was kinda bumbed it didn't work out...next year hopefully. I am not an outdoors girl. I am much more of a hotel and dinner and a movie kind a gal...so is my husband. But, we want our kids to have those experiences. Next year we will be more prepared. But they had lots of fun and didn't seem to care. The kiddos.

Friends are Lifesavers!

My dear, sweet, much missed friend, Becca came to see me in February. I just love her and her family so much. It is funny that we only spent a few short months together but bonded so completely. It was so rejuvenating to see her and sweet Lilly and Gracie. Luke was so excited. He has missed them all. Even little Ty kept running up to Becca and giving her hugs. It was hard to see them leave, but luckily they have family here and visit fairly often. Miss you all. Thanks for spending a great day!

Happy Valentines Day

I feel like I have so much to be thankful for on days like today. I am surrounded with people I love and that love me. I neglected to post on our anniversary...7 years and still no need to scratch! Jake is the best husband. He works so hard to provide for us. When he comes through the door at the end of the day he is always happy and excited to see us. He never brings stress home with him. Our home lights up when he is here and everything feels complete. I could not ask for a more loving, nurturing, hard working, best friend, companion and love of my life. I am truly blessed. Thank you Jake for loving me.

Thank you also to all my wonderful friends. Some of you I am privileged to call family, and the rest of you mean as much to me. I have been showered lately with love and service. I could not meet the challenges of life without all of you. I love you all!

Cougar Football Party!

We had so much fun Saturday night watching the BYU game (yes, we got Direct TV just so that we could get "The Mountain" all the way out here.) Our friends, the Castletons, came over. It is great for Jake to have another avid fan to watch the games with. We are so glad they have moved to Decatur-we know they will get used to it!
We had yummy nachos-thanks Becca, pizza and I made BYU cookies. The kids LOVE to play together. I am so glad that Luke and Grace will be in the same preschool class this fall. Here are some cute pics of our kids together.

My masterpiece cookies. Well, not really. But they did turn out quite nicely. I was pleased. My first attempt at homemade sugar cookies. I am not a big cookie person. Also, I have never had much success when making them. Then my friend here gave me a great tip I had never heard of. I am sure so many of you already know, but, set the butter out for about 20 minutes at room temperature before mixing. Also, I think that my new Kitchenaid mixer helped.
Oh, ya and they won! Everyone happy here!! There was a questionable word spoken during the third quarter-by whom I won't say. But all in all, a great night. Thanks guys for coming!
